The Office for Women manages policies and programs that advance gender equality and improve women’s safety in Victoria.
Our work aims to support, engage and empower every Victorian who identifies as a woman.
We work with communities, councils, organisations and government to support women and girls to achieve the best possible outcomes in all aspects of their lives, including education, leadership, economic security, safety, and health and wellbeing.
Everyone benefits from a more equal society. The Office for Women is responsible for developing and implementing key strategies to advance equality in Victoria including Safe and Strong, our nation-leading gender equality strategy.
We’re also making sure the public sector leads by example under Victoria’s landmark Gender Equality Act, which requires more than 300 organisations to actively progress gender equality within their workforces and in their public-facing policies, programs and services. This work is independently supported and overseen by the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector.
