The Victorian Government commissioned the Social Housing Regulation Review to seek advice on regulatory reforms to support the long-term interests of social housing residents.
The Victorian Government acknowledges and appreciates the substantial work of the Review and all agencies, organisations and individuals who contributed to it.
The Victorian Government supports 40 of the report’s 44 recommendations, does not support 3 recommendations and is deferring a decision on 1 recommendation.
Actions against a number of these recommendations are well progressed and already form part of the Victorian Government’s operational processes.
The Victorian Government remains committed to strengthening the social housing sector by increasing accountability, prioritising renters’ lived experience, and supporting self-determination for Aboriginal Victorians.
