For lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual (LGBTIQA+) people, coming out to friends and family can be a significant milestone. This can bring both joy and challenges.
Coming out is a decision that LGBTIQA+ people make every day. It is not a once-off action; it occurs again and again throughout their lives.
National Coming Out Day is about acknowledging the bravery of the LGBTIQA+ communities. You’re not alone; we see you and celebrate you. We are with you every step of the way.
It’s also important to remember that not everybody is able to, or wants to, come out. Regardless of where you’re at on your journey – we recognise you and our fabulous LGBTIQA+ communities on this day.
If you are considering coming out to someone, you can visit Minus18. They have excellent resources to help you navigate the process.
