Recognise and support carers this National Carers Week

National Carers Week returns from 13–19 October with events and activities for carers across Victoria.
13 October 2024

In Victoria, there are more than 750,000 unpaid carers who care for a family member, partner or friend with disability, mental illness, dementia, chronic or terminal illness or age-related support needs.

National Carers Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate carers and the vital role they play in our communities.

This year we’re encouraging all Victorians to consider the ways they can ‘Care for a Carer’ by:

  • checking in with carers they know
  • offering them a break
  • showing you appreciate their role.

Free public transport

Victorian Carer Card holders can enjoy seven days of free public transport throughout Victoria from Sunday 13 to Saturday 19 October 2024. This includes travel across all metropolitan services, V/Line train and coach services, regional town buses and inter-town buses.
