Join the Victorian Disability Advisory Council

The Victorian Government is calling for applications to join the Victorian Disability Advisory Council.

The council provides valuable advice to the Minister for Disability to increase the participation and inclusion of Victorians with disability. People with lived experience of disability are encouraged to apply.  

The council’s next three-year term will run from 31 July 2025 to 30 July 2028. Applications close on 12 April 2025.

Who can apply

We are looking for applicants with the skills, knowledge and experience on matters that are important to people with disability.

The council aims to reflect the diversity of people with disability in the community. This includes:

  • First Nations people
  • women
  • people from LGBTIQA+ communities
  • young people
  • people from multicultural communities and  
  • regional Victorians.

Those applying for the chair or deputy chair position must be someone with disability. There are also two positions for First Nations people.

The Office for Disability is planning an online information session for potential applicants. More details about this will be available on the Victorian Disability Advisory Council webpage soon.

About the council

The council’s role includes:

  • advising the Minister for Disability on whole of government policy directions and plans to remove barriers to inclusion for people with disability
  • overseeing the state disability plan and reviewing its progress
  • raising awareness of the rights of people with disability and the role of others in promoting these rights
  • working with other disability advisory councils or bodies, at all levels of government
  • monitoring strategies that promote inclusion and community participation.
