Diverse women’s leadership program now open

It’s time to apply for the 2024 Women of Colour Executive Leadership Program
3 June 2024

This program, the first of its kind in Australia, was designed by Women of Colour, for Women of Colour.

Delivered in partnership with Women of Colour Australia, the program supports leaders to thrive in their careers.

It was designed in response to the structural and cultural biases that limit the ways Women of Colour progress in their leadership journeys.

The program features five in-person modules that explore:

  • the power of allyship
  • immunity to change
  • cultural and gendered influences
  • promoting inclusivity
  • adaptive leadership.

It also provides:

  • small group coaching
  • support to complete an individual strategic challenge project.

Women who completed the program last year say it enhanced their leadership skills and decision-making ability. It boosted confidence and helped them advance their careers.

Previous participant Lama Tiavo says:

‘The program was a fulfilling experience, life-changing and has had a real impact on me and the other participants. I encourage others to apply for the program and to chase leadership positions.’

Liz Reynolds says:

‘This program isn't just about learning; it's about transforming. It dives deep into not only professional skills like leadership and boundary-setting but also into personal growth areas such as cultural introspection and overcoming imposter syndrome. It's more than an educational experience; it's an opportunity to redefine your role in your professional and personal spheres.’

Sana Aziz says:

‘This program proves to be truly transformative for those willing to embrace personal change. The program not only aims to make you feel better but also encourages you to open to the idea of a better version of yourself, all while celebrating your current self. I wholeheartedly recommend participating in this program for a journey that goes beyond personal growth.’

The program will run from August to November. Applications close 1 July.

Participate, Advocate, Communicate, Engage (PACE) Leadership Program

DFFH also funds the PACE Leadership Program, which strengthens the way migrant and refugee women, gender diverse and non-binary leaders take the lead within their workplaces, communities and everyday lives.

PACE stands for:

  • Participate in the workforce, civic and community life
  • Advocate on issues impacting their community
  • Communicate leadership qualities and skills
  • Engage with issues and others in the community for the purposes of providing ongoing support to other migrant and refugee women.

It is delivered by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health and aims to encourage migrant women to access leadership opportunities, and to embrace leadership in ways that build on their existing strengths.

The programs are all part of the Victorian Government’s continuing work towards achieving gender equality for our state.
