International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations observed day held annually on 3 December.
Each year, it’s an opportunity to promote equity for and empowerment of the 1.1 million people with disability in Victoria.
Victorian Disability Advisory Council
This year’s theme is Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future. In honour, we shine a light on the incredible stories and work of the Victorian Disability Advisory Council (VDAC) and the people recognised at the 2024 Victorian Disability Awards.
The council is made up of Victorians with disability and reflects a diverse range of lived experience. Their valuable advice to government helps make our state more inclusive and accessible.
A key role of the council is to support the implementation and monitoring of Inclusive Victoria: state disability plan 2022–2026, our plan to help us build a safer and fairer Victoria.
You can watch a series of videos about VDAC members that celebrate disability pride, diversity and leadership.
