The bi+ community are an important, and often overlooked part of the rainbow community.
We continue to work towards eliminating discrimination. It is important to understand that a lack of visibility and recognition can have a negative impact on the wellbeing of bi+ communities.
Biphobia and bi-erasure contribute to the invisibility of bi+ people in Victoria. This undermines their identities, experiences, and wellbeing.
Bisexual Awareness Week is all about
making change,
recognising that negativity can be unfairly directed at bisexuality,
upholding the rights of bi+ people,
celebrating the diversity, resilience and achievements of bi+ people.
The week culminates in Celebrate Bisexuality Day on 23 September. This is a day to honour bi+ communities, embrace their contributions, histories. To continue to advocate for visibility, acceptance, and equality.
